Anaheim 1's in the books as DIRT WURX USA opens the 2012 Monster Energy SX season.

DIRT WURX USA designed & constructed A1 hybrid SX/MX track suits defending champ Villopoto perfectly – puts on a clinic for the world’s best MXers

MONROE, N.Y. (Jan. 11, 2012) – Though this past weekend’s DIRT WURX USA track build atan Anaheim’s (Calif.) Angels Stadium was as much controversial as it was traditional – garnering mixed reviews from the racers and fans alike – the end result, according to company president Rich Winkler, was that the rider who should have won the opening round of Monster Energy Supercross, an FIM World Championship, did win.

“Ryan Villopoto put on an absolute MX school for the world’s top racers,” said Winkler. “And for those that paid attention the racing going on behind RV was actually pretty good.”

Turning the track design reins over to A-level racer Bob Childers of DIRT WURX USA, Winkler’s acrew had ideal move-in and track construction conditions in southern California leading up to Thursday’s opening event press day. The end result was a track that, though some complained was one-lined, produced lap time in excess of a minute in length and, at the very least, offered up some unique areas where riders could attempt to pass.

“We played with the lines a bit during practice and the outdoor (MX) section actually led to quite a bit of unconventional places to pass,” said Winkler. “The general reaction from the riders was positive. And it was good to see (Ryan) Dungey get on the box for the first time ever for KTM in the premier class in American supercross.”

With the event sold out in advance, the Feld Motor Sports® produced Anaheim 1 was a major success. The series now moves to Phoenix’s Chase Field for round two of Monster Energy Supercross.
